The Friends of Swanage Bandstand

The 'Friends' are currently raising the funds to restore the Towns bandstand which has been under threat of demolition. Its a rare example manufactured by Walter Macfarlane & Co at the Saracen Foundry, Glasgow. It is made of cast iron and was installed in 1923 and officially opened on the 2nd August 1923. This incredibly important bandstand is one of the few remaining MacFarlane '224' bandstands left in the country.

Swanage Museum & Heritage Centre

The museum has a lot of local history information and is well worth a visit. Heritage tours of Swanage are organised and provide fascinating background information on the development of the town.

Durlston Country Park

The country park is the entrance to the Jurrasic Coast. Nearby is the Globe and Tilly Whim caves.

The Centre provides stone carving skills and activities. Drive up through Langton Matravers and the Centre is on the right just past the village.

Swanage Railway

The Swanage railway is the result of many years of hard work restoring the line closed in the 60's. A trip on the train is a must if you visit Swanage.
